Compliance Director - Agency Distribution Operations

Agency Distribution (AD) is Prudential's nationwide sales organization, which retails our securities, insurance and selected non proprietary products.  Our field force comprises approximately 2,600 financial professionals (formerly known as agents) and 330 field managers. We have representation in 49 of the 50 states (excluding Alaska). Four territories form 50 parent agencies and approximately 67 detached agency offices. Many of our financial professionals (about 50 percent) are located in private offices throughout the United States.

 

Pruco Securities, LLC (Pruco), a subsidiary of The Prudential Insurance Company of America
operates as a dually registered broker dealer and investment adviser. The company offers variable life and annuity products, mutual funds, and brokerage accounts.

 

The Director will play a key management role within AD/Pruco Compliance focused on support and oversight of the company’s retail insurance, BD and RIA sales operations functions.

 

The successful candidate must be highly motivated, organized and possess deep compliance or regulatory experience in retail insurance, investment advisor or brokerage operations.  They must be process driven, while having the ability to think big-picture and provide advice regarding processes that span multiple business units in a complex organization. 

 

Principal Responsibilities:

·       Will lead Business Unit Compliance Officers (BUCO) providing compliance support to Agency Distribution operational areas;

·       Educate Agency Distribution/Pruco Securities operational areas on regulatory requirements and developments;

·       Routinely advise and assist in the creation of new policies, procedures and processes and enhancement to existing ones;

·       Develop desktop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the team’s functions

·       Manage the ongoing risk assessments applicable to various operational area processes;

·       Ensure timely escalation of issues, as appropriate;

·       Work closely with control partners including other AD and ILI compliance departments as well as the Law Department and Risk Management;

·       Assist BUCOs in the review and analysis of Regulatory Alerts (FINRA, SEC, MSRB, State Securities related) and their applicability to various operational areas;

·       Assist VP in execution on department projects and initiatives.

·        Regular travel between Prudential’s NJ operations locations (Newark/Woodbridge) as well as periodic visits to the Ft. Washington, PA location.

 

 

·       Five to seven years of sales operations, middle-office or back-office operations management experience or relevant experience supporting or testing these functions;

·       Prior experience in managing staff a plus;

·       Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills;

·       Strong relationship management, interpersonal and leadership skills, including experience in dealing with senior business and compliance management;

·       Ability to manage and balance multiple priorities;

·       Exemplify sound judgment and must possess the ability to prioritize and handle time sensitive business matters in a fair and consistent manner;

·       BA/BS Degree preferred;

·       FINRA Registration (7, 24) required, series 65 preferred
