Writes, edits, coordinates, and publishes moderate to complex documentation to support the achievement of business goals.

Works with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of documentation requirements and the processes, operations, responsibilities, competencies, etc. within the refineries that are instrumental to development of training materials.

Reviews technical training materials from all business units to ensure that the content is technically complete and meets the intent of the federal and state regulations. Ensures that materials delivered to business units are compliant and effective.

Produces high-quality documentation, edits and/or reformats copy, and ensures that all work products meet applicable standards and are appropriate for the intended audience.

Creates tutorials to help employees/trainees use a variety of applications for training.

Collaborates with Subject Matter Experts (SME's) to define training, reference materials, and communications.

Drafts, edits, and formats technical manuals, project documentation, and/or other technical documentation.

Writes, formats, and illustrates technical publications for training purposes with input from and interaction with field and corporate SME's.

Researches and translates technical information for technical and non-technical users.

Ensures final literature/documents follow the company’s technical publication guidelines and specifications for consistency.

Collaborates with and interviews technical resources and SME's to elicit the appropriate technical information needed to compose high-quality technical write-ups, and to outline and organize training materials.

Edits/standardizes documents prepared by technical resources and SME's.

Observes and reviews production activities and other materials to become familiar with product technologies and operating procedure.

High School diploma or GED required.
- Five (5) years of professional writing and editing experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, or related field preferred.
- Experience writing and editing technical documents in the refining, petrochemical, and/or manufacturing industry preferred.

- Project management skills.
- Ability to read and interpret company policies, regulatory guidelines, and other work-related documentation.
- Ability to abide by confidentiality requirements when working with sensitive information, results, and communications.
- Skill in providing thorough, efficient, and effective customer service to individuals at all levels within the organization.
- Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal methods.
- Ability to accomplish work within required timelines, including short, long, and emergency timeframes.
- Ability to cross-train in other department duties to ensure efficient coverage department responsibilities.
- Ability to work with others to accomplish challenging assignments.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple assignments to ensure completion of tasks within stated time requirements.
- Basic skill using Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Word and Excel).
