SENIOR NETWORK ENGINEER
Acxiom
What you will do:
- Implements, configures, analyzes and supports Acxiom's internal data communications systems which may include the local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), Internet system or network system segment(s)
- Designs network solutions with internal Acxiom teams and external clients based on need and capabilities
- Provides change management
- Maintains computer networks and related computing environments including cable plants, wiring and all other computer hardware, systems software, applications software and configurations
- Coordinates with vendors for installations that may include routers, bridges, concentrators and switches
- Performs data backups and disaster recovery operations
- Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and resolves hardware, software, or other network and system problems and replaces defective components when necessary
- Provides real time escalation response for support issues
- Provides incident management
- Creates and maintains metrics on network performance
- Acts as focal point for all network reviews
- Monitors network performance, determines whether adjustments should to be made and makes suggestions for improvements
- Conducts performance engineering for complex cross functional network related projects.
- Keeps informed in latest industry news, trends, products, services, competitors and relevant existing and emerging technologies
- Maintains integrity and relevance of systems data and network management tools. Evaluates new products
- Provides network training and assists with proposal writing
- Conducts project planning and implementation, cost analysis and vendor comparisons
- Documents hardware specifications and data communication circuit ordering information and asset management
- Oversees the acquisition and administration of maintenance contracts
What you will need:
- Expert level network troubleshooting experience in large-scale IP environments
- Knowledge of and demonstrated operating experience in more than one of the following technologies: LAN/MAN/WAN design, Frame Relay, MPLS, VoIP, QoS, Optical networking, Wireless, VPN and remote access
- Knowledge of Network management, network availability, and capacity planning
- Knowledge of and experience with routers, switches, and VPN concentrators [e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Nortel (Bay) Networks, etc.]
- Knowledge of and experience with voice and media systems (e.g., Avaya Definity/Intuity, Cisco Telepresence, etc.)
- Knowledge of and experience with security systems (e.g., Cisco PIX/ASA, Check Point, IronPort, Blue Coat, etc.)
- Knowledge in LAN/WAN network support, firewall support, management, availability, and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of CA IT Management tools
- 5 - 7 years experience with Check Point or Cisco security solutions
- Demonstrated technical knowledge and consultative skills
- Excellent written, verbal, listening, and presentation skills
- Strong problem solving skills (e.g., ability to assess a problem and determine an effective course of action)
- Ability to work effectively with others and add value as a team member
