We currently have a casual opening for a Patient Transporter. The hours are variable and not guaranteed from week to week. Transporters could be scheduled 8 hours between 5:30am-9:00pm.
The Central Transport department provides physical movement of patients and patient related materials, supplies, and equipment within the main medical complex. The Transporter has responsibilities involving indirect and direct patient contact requiring judgment, accountability, and follow through. Individual Transporters will complete 30-40 transports per shift which includes walking 8-12 miles per day. Transporters use the Tele-tracking system to complete and track transports. To complete a transport, you will communicate with nursing unit staff and the patient to notify of next steps. You will safely transport patients and materials to the destinations at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital and Marshfield Clinic. You are expected to communicate the safety needs for patients, especially related to age and development, physical, psychological, and social needs. Transporters maintain equipment, oxygen and supply stock levels in assigned areas throughout shift.
- High School graduate or equivalent preferred
- Previous patient transport experience preferred
- Public contact and customer service experience preferred
- Experience providing personal care to individuals is preferred
- Current CPR certification required within 6 months of hire
- Outstanding communication skills required
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred
