JOB SUMMARY:

DPI (Dimensional Photonics  International), an OpCo of KaVo Kerr Group, is looking for an experienced Web/Cloud Developer capable of developing and extending cutting edge Cloud applications for the Lythos and related businesses.  This is an opportunity to join a small but agile team that aims to apply industry-leading Cloud and Big Data technologies to the Digital Dentistry revolution.  This person will extend our existing Lythos Web Services and Web Portal for exciting new applications (see http://www.ormco.com/lythos/benefits.php) that include growing capabilities around 3D/2D data management, image data processing, data fusion, data visualization, streamlined workflows, operational analytics, heterogeneous system integrations, and Lythos business operations.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Responsibilities include reviewing our existing Cloud applications to identify areas for improvement in fault-tolerance, performance and new data processing workflows.  Work with customers, product managers, and other members of the software team to solicit, define, and manage Cloud software requirements in an Agile manner.  Deliver new Cloud software capabilities for customer-facing as well as staff-facing web applications with RESTful web services / APIs , Responsive and Rich Web UIs in HTML5/Ajax/Javascript/CSS3 based frameworks.  Deliver new functionality in a Test-Driven Development (TDD) manner using automated integration/testing/deployment infrastructures. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3+ years’ experience developing dynamic web sites with Python and MVC-based frameworks like Django.
  • 2+ years’ experience designing and delivering RESTful web services / Cloud APIs.
  • Experience implementing interactive database-backed applications using Ajax, Javascript, CSS3, and JSON.
  • Some prior experience interfacing Python to non-relational / NoSQL databases.
 
 
 

PREFERRED / IDEAL SKILLS (any of the following): 

  • Cassandra (and Python interfacing via Pycassa module).
  • Bottle or Flask for Python web services implementation.
  • Experience with Solandra / Solr, HIVE, Pig, and other Big Data technologies is, a PLUS.
  • Automated testing and Continuous Integration (CI) / Continuous Deployment (CD) using Fabric and Jenkins. 
  • Accomplishments in delivering web UIs following the Responsive Design and Rich paradigms using AJAX frameworks (e.g. Twitter Bootstrap).
  • Familiarity with using Balsamiq Mockup to design UIs.  Facile with HTML5.
  • Ability to generate interactive web-based charting using frameworks like HighChart, FusionChart, etc.  Experience delivering business/decision -support dashboards for metrics, KPIs, and analytics is, a definite PLUS.
  • Ability to document work including APIs, Software Requirements Specifications, and Software Design Specifications.  Use of API documentor tools like Swagger is helpful.
  • iPad and Tablet mobile development experience is a nice addition, but not critical.
  • Experience working with 3D image data, a definite PLUS!

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Science /technical background a PLUS!) or equivalent experience in an IT or Computer, Software related field.
