The Chaplain Educator provides supervision and leadership for students in the Clinical Pastoral Education program and related administrative duties associated with CPE supervision.  They assist in managing the performance and utilization of staff for effective and efficient services and provide spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, and employees as needed to address needs in coping with the impact of illness or injury. 
 
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Coordinates and provides supervision and training in clinical pastoral education to students related to the delivery of pastoral care.
  2. Coordinates the day to day operations of the CPE Center office, including program evaluation, budget, and student records.
  3. Works with the interdisciplinary team to provide spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, students, and staff of varying faiths and denominations.
  4. Provides education to identified audiences related to spiritual needs throughout the life span. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

  1. Master’s degree in Divinity from an accredited graduate school of theology or its equivalent required.
  2. Certified as an Associate or Full supervisor by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. 
  3. Must be an ordained clergy with ecclesiastical endorsement for a hospital chaplain in chosen denomination required. 
  4. Minimum of three years ministry experience, and one year of experience in a healthcare setting required; pediatric experience preferred. 
  5. Functional knowledge of the religious principles and practices of the major faiths.
  6. Must possess excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  7. Must be able to successfully pass the Basic Windows Skill Assessment at 80% or higher rating within 30 days of date of hire.
