POSITION PURPOSE
 
This position requires a unique combination of high-level database administration and programming skills in combination with deep technical knowledge of the healthcare revenue cycle and reimbursement. Provides technical database expertise, financial and operational analysis, and automated operational solutions to multiple stakeholders, including leaders in MCW Finance, MCW Clinical Department Administrators, Froedtert Hospital administration and CPS operations staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1.      Design, install, monitor, and maintain CPS data warehouse database utilzing Cognos & Crystal software while ensuring high levels of data availability, response time and integrity. Provide technical database expertise ensuring integration and reconciliation across multiple databases.  Design quality complex programs and reports to facilitate accurate automation of work-flows within the CPS revenue cycle, limiting manual intervention whenever possible.  Ensure quality control in design of the database programs and implement solutions in accordance with MCW enterprise wide initiatives. Manage multiple database applications and their interrelationships which are highly complex in nature. 
 
2.      Perform complex financial and business-related analysis, engineer automation of high-volume operational financial transactions and develop dashboards relating to clinical access, quality and physician productivity reporting for compensation calculations.  In addition to the knowledge of standard level budgetary and accounting concepts and practices, the incumbent will be capable of functioning with cross-organizational concepts and practices, i.e. Froedtert/MCW benchmarking and reporting.
3.      Perform complex analysis, reporting and manipulation of data, identifying and communicating trends risks, opportunities and outlying variances.
4.      Apply technical expertise of multiple complex healthcare related databases, programs, applications and languages to ensure accurate design, scope and implementation of automated work-flows within the CPS revenue cycle.  Participate in the design, creation and maintenance of complex, multi-platform databases, consistent with business requirements and processes.
 
5.      Develop database strategies to provide efficient and accurate use of data.  Technical expertise will require the ability to design SQL stored procedures and functions to provide greater flexibility for the end users, and SSIS packages to load and export data.  Create financial reports, not otherwise accessible within a “canned” database configuration - specifically designing and maintaining financial executive summary and group practice financial reports.
 
6.      Advise Decision Support financial analysts, EPIC report writers and senior administration leaders as to how to most efficiently reconcile, join, compile and integrate data transmitted and/or received from MCW’s multiple healthcare databases, vendor databases or business affiliate databases.
7.      Analyze various aspects of the practice, including benchmarking key indicators, billing and collection analysis, data warehouse software, hardware, license and training budgeting, purchasing and billing, and revenue maximization.
8.      Develop, generate and maintain patient and clinical care reports for quality assurance and improvement.
9.      Prepare productivity reports for physicians and management at multiple clinics.
 
10.  Administer database structure and ensure data integrity. Manage database access and Cognos data warehouse security.
11.  Responsible for ad hoc requests and provide financial interpretation, analysis and market-based information to multiple stakeholders.

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on equivalent basis
 
Education:                     Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field
 
Experience:                   8 years of related advanced financial and analytical experience, including at least 5 years experience with physician billing software, Cognos or equivalent database software administration, and at least 3 years working with EPIC healthcare databases, EPIC Clarity and Crystal Reports.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
 
·         High-level database administration and programming skills, including data structure and outcome measures, in combination with deep technical knowledge of the healthcare revenue cycle and reimbursement.
·         Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Strong oral and written communication skills, strong critical thinking and problem-solving and attenton to detail required.
·         Strong analytical abilities and comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles and reimbursement and clinical operations.  Advanced software knowledge in the areas of spreadsheets, databases, electronic medical records and graphics.
·         Extensive knowledge of physician billing software applications, Cognos or equivalent database software administration, EPIC Healthcare databases, EPIC Clarity and Crystal Reports.
·         Knowledge of Microsoft database design, including MS SQL, and familiarity with relevant database systems, ideally including Cognos and Crystal Reports.
