The Registered Nurse, working in collaboration with the primary physician, provides coordination of the patient plan of care and the patient care team. The Registered Nurse works with the patient/family/significant other(s) and interdisciplinary team members to develop an individualized plan of care to include educational and discharge planning interventions. Together with interdisciplinary team members, the Registered Nurse evaluates the plan of care and addresses unmet outcomes for further intervention or consultation. The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process to deliver care for specified patients in accordance with Saint Joseph's Hospital's Mission, Policies and Procedures and Standards of Practice and Care, and the American Nurses Association (ANA) Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.
Essential Functions
- Conducts initial and ongoing age-appropriate assessments for assigned patients.
- Analyzes and diagnoses alterations in findings with patient's clinical presentation.
- Consistently evaluates progress toward outcomes and revises outcomes and interventions.
- Provides age-appropriate nursing care to patients in accordance with standards of Clinical Nursing Practice.
- Continuously educates patient/family to support progression on the plan of care and post-discharge self-care abilities.
- Applies safety measures appropriate for the patient's age and development.
- Consistently demonstrates accurate and complete documentation.
- Utilizes computer applications and medical complex information systems.
The Critical Needs Team Nurse will be working in the Surgical ICU, the Medical ICU and the Cardiac Med/Surg Floors.
This is a casual position, but does require working a minimum 72 hours every 6 weeks. Of those hours, 32 will be on weekends and all other hours will be on off shifts of PMs or Nights. Holiday requirement will be 1 spring/summer holiday and 1 fall/winter holiday.
There are no benefits for this position, however there is an enhanced rate of pay of $42.68 per hour.
- Graduation from a National League for Nursing (NLN) approved school with an Associate Degree, Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in nursing is required
- 2 years of acute care RN experience is required
- Current license to practice as a RN in the State of Wisconsin is required
- Knowledge of the principles of growth and development and the ability to assess data and identify patients' age-specific requirements and provide age-appropriate care is required
- Must be willing to learn new technical skills related to the position on an ongoing basis to maintain satisfactory competence and performance
