Position Purpose

The commercial management trainee will participate in a rigorous 18-24 month program designed to provide technical knowledge of Cargill Industrial Specialties (CIS) products and product capabilities.  The position is designed to provide core technical skills and abilities to effectively enter and contribute immediately to business sales by the end of the program.

 

0-12 months (R&D & Business acumen)

• Participate in market driven research, synthesis and development of products going into the industrial oils, lubricants, and related fields.  Design experiments to create new products and technologies, and improve new and current products. Work closely with customers and sales representatives to provide value added solutions in the industrial market space.

• Lead several technical projects  within the IOL Research Team.  Develop product line specifications by getting input from potential customers in the target market then transfer this information to specific research channels.  Modify existing products or synthesize new products to meet the defined product requirements then follow these products through customer testing and conversions.

 

12-24 months (Technical service and Commercial focus)

• Develops convenience space solutions to meet customer/market needs peering with technical service and sales to proactively drive customer relevant solutions

 

Principal Accountabilities

• Perform and lead research and development focused on providing customers with innovative solutions.  Create new products and technologies for customer evaluation and further development.

 

• Provide technical support and information to internal and external sales, marketing, and operations.

 

• Hunts for new opportunities aligning customer needs and market drivers with our capabilities by developing deep relationships with customers and providing  technical credibility that drives differentiation and innovation.

 

• Develops and provides technical training to external customers and business partners.

 

• Provides in-depth product line technical support and coordination of product line technical communication when designated product line technical tag.

 

 

Required
• Currently pursuing or have obtained BS in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
• Strong communication skills
• Desire to join CIS Salesforce at program end
• Willing and able to travel minimum 50% of the time for customer visits

 

Preferred
• Chemistry or Chemical Engineerig degree
• 2+ years of prior business experience
